Why is self esteem important? Without self esteem we don’t feel good about ourselves, our lives don’t work and most importantly we feel we are not worthy of our own love.
It is comfortable and somewhat easy to love our families, friends, our kids, our wives and husbands, our home, our pets, our cars, maybe even our jobs. When it comes to loving ourselves we fall short.
We mercilessly criticize ourselves and judge ourselves. We
are too fat, too short, too skinny, too tall, poor, unhealthy, not good enough, undeserving, not worthy etc etc. The list goes on and on.
Self esteem is important because with it we can make healthy choices in life. To make healthy choices we have personal power the ability to create what we want, which all comes from having great to high self esteem in the first place.
If we have low self esteem we don’t make healthy choices because we don’t feel good about ourselves. When we don’t feel good about ourselves our lives become a reaction to external circumstances. We play the blame game a lot, blaming our parents, our partners, our families, our friends, the government etc for our problems. We don’t take any responsibility for our lives and everything in it. We are a victim of life.
Why is self esteem important? We make better choices because we know we are responsible for our lives; we are worthy of our own love and our outer world must reflect our inner world.
Our outer world is made up of people, places and things. Our inner world is made up of thoughts, feelings and our spiritual self. When we genuinely honestly feel good to great about ourselves, our outer world reflects that back to us in the form of our external circumstances. Our lives work and we give up the need to struggle. Life becomes a creation rather than a reaction. We are now focusing on what we want out of life.
With self esteem the struggling ends. Life was never meant to be a struggle! I will repeat this again because it is so important to get “Life was never meant to be a struggle!”
I deserve the best and I accept the best now, is a very powerful positive thought to have in your mind. Write it down on a piece of paper and keep it in your wallet or purse. Better yet, put this positive affirmation on a wall in your home and keep looking at it each day!
The bottom line? Why is self esteem important? – CHOICE! When we have choice in the matter we choose to love ourselves first and we choose what we want in life.
