1). Practice
Practice makes perfect. Practice is the art of getting it right, not necessarily the 1st time or even the 3rd time.
Practice allows one to make all the mistakes at the beginning so in the end, one can get it right.
2). Self Esteem Affirmations
Using self esteem affirmations helps one change from a negative mindset to a positive one. For example: Working with the following affirmation – I Dave am a confident, positive, capable man will ultimately change my mindset to a more positive one and my life’s circumstances will start to reflect that.
Doing self esteem affirmations is a very powerful method of increasing our self esteem!!
3). Vision Board
A vision board is used to capture ones positive vision. It is used for inspiration and to remind oneself of what is important in one’s life.
Words and pictures that
reflect meaning and significance are cut out of magazines and placed on a
poster board. A time frame of 1 month, 6 months or a year or more, is written
at the top of the vision board. The vision board is then placed on a wall where
it can be seen to remind oneself of what is important in life. See affirmation posters.
4). Trust
To trust
oneself is to have a firm belief in one’s honesty and reliability. If one is
dishonest and unreliable, then one lacks self confidence.
5). Be Supported
No one is an island. Allowing oneself to be supported can go a long ways to accomplishing a job or task that needs doing. Being supported means letting someone in to your space to work on something together rather than separately.
6).
Positive Reinforcement
We all need positive reinforcement. Whether we give it to ourselves or get it from others. Its benefits are enormous. When we give it to ourselves in the form of a pat on the back or tell ourselves good job, we are building our self confidence and our self esteem.
When
we get it from others, we are also building self confidence. The important
thing to do when we receive it from others is to allow it in. Don’t deflect it
by denying it or pushing it aside – really let it in!
